Junior Sous Chef – Indian Restaurant

Job Summary:
The Junior Sous Chef is responsible for supporting the culinary team in delivering an exceptional dining experience that reflects the standards of a 5-star hotel. This role involves overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring consistency in food quality and presentation, and assisting in menu development. The Junior Sous Chef maintains high standards of hygiene and safety, mentors’ junior staff, and collaborates closely with the Sous Chef and Executive Chef to uphold the hotel's culinary excellence. A passion for refined cuisine, attention to detail, and commitment to guest satisfaction are essential to success in this role.
Minimum Requirements:
Matriculation certificate (or the equivalent)
Either Culinary Arts, Catering management or Food Service Management diploma
Min of 2 years experience as a Junior Sous Chef in Indian Restaurant
HACCP certification
Key Responsibilities:
Produce food for all food outlets within the hotel
Assist the Sous Chef with any additional responsibilities, i.e. Stock Control
Assist in overseeing food preparation and service across all kitchen stations
Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control in line with hotel standards
Supervise and train junior kitchen staff, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork
Monitor inventory levels and assist with stock rotation, ordering, and waste control
Uphold strict hygiene, health, and safety standards in compliance with HACCP regulations
Collaborate with the Sous Chef on menu planning, seasonal offerings, and guest preferences
Support in managing kitchen operations during peak service periods and staff absences
Maintain clear communication with front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service delivery
Contribute to cost control initiatives and efficient use of resources
