We are seeking an experienced and inspiring Hotel Manager to support the General Manager in leading The Old Government House Hotel—our iconic, five‑star property known for its elegance, exceptional service and warm “home away from home” hospitality.


In this role, you will oversee department heads, drive operational excellence, support the delivery of the Sales & Marketing Plan and ensure our guests experience the highest standards of professionalism, attention to detail and personal care.


This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate leader with strong business acumen, a hands‑on approach and a desire to develop into a future General Manager within Red Carnation Hotels. This position reports directly to the General Manager.


Location: The Old Government House Hotel

Employment Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: 5 days working, 2 days off.

Key Responsibilities of a Hotel Manager:

  • Support the General Manager in delivering operational, financial and guest service objectives.
  • Lead, mentor and develop Heads of Department to ensure consistent 5‑star service across the hotel.
  • Maintain strong cost control, manage payroll and budgets and monitor performance against targets.
  • Ensure exceptional guest experiences through high service standards, attention to detail and visible leadership front‑of‑house.
  • Handle guest issues promptly and professionally, anticipating concerns by analysing feedback and business trends.
  • Oversee compliance with all policies, procedures, Health & Safety regulations and training requirements.
  • Drive occupancy, average rate and revenue through strong commercial awareness and collaboration with Sales & Marketing.
  • Support recruitment, training, employee engagement and retention initiatives to maintain a positive workplace culture.
  • Ensure effective communication across departments through regular meetings and staff engagement.
  • Represent the hotel professionally within the local community and industry, maintaining strong networks.
  • Ensure high standards across back‑of‑house areas, team welfare facilities and employee recognition.


What are we looking for?

  • Hospitality qualification (IoH / HNC / HND) and/or experience in a similar management role
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop high‑performing teams
  • A hands‑on, guest‑focused approach with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage financial performance, budgets and payroll
  • Strong communication, relationship‑building and problem‑solving skills
  • Passion for luxury hospitality and delivering world‑class guest experiences
  • Excellent understanding of Health & Safety, compliance and operational standards
