We are currently seeking a dependable and well-organised Goods Inwards Person to join our team at our luxury hotel. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to support the smooth operation of our property by managing deliveries, stock levels, and store organisation in a five-star hospitality environment. This role reports to the Purchasing Manager.


Location: Ashford Castle, Cong, Co. Mayo, Ireland

Employment Type: Full-time

Working pattern: Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities as a Goods Inwards Person:

  • Receive, inspect, and verify all incoming deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes.
  • Ensure all goods meet agreed quality standards, quantities, specifications, and temperatures (where applicable).
  • Order items required for the hotel.
  • Ensure purchase orders are raised in accordance with hotel policy.
  • Identify, report, and follow up on discrepancies, damaged goods, or short deliveries.
  • Ensure all deliveries comply with hotel policies, HACCP, and health & safety regulations.
  • Accurately record all received goods in the stock management system on the day of delivery.
  • Ensure correct labelling, dating, and rotation of stock (FIFO principles).
  • Coordinate with departments to ensure timely distribution of goods.
  • Prepare and place weekly beverage orders in line with forecasted business levels and par stock requirements.


What are we looking for?

  • Previous experience in a stores, warehouse, or stockroom role, ideally within hospitality or catering
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with stock management systems
  • A responsible and proactive approach to work
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
